Volcanoes at the Fleet Science Center

If you live in San Diego or plan on visiting, you have got to add a trip to the Fleet Science Center to your itinerary.  It’s located in Balboa Park across the plaza from the San Diego Natural History Museum.  The Fleet Science Center boasts a Giant Dome Theater which was, and still remains, the first of its kind in the world and is currently Southern California’s only Giant Dome Theater.

The hubs and I were so fortunate to check out the Premiere the night before it was released for the public. We even got to meet one of the photographers from the film.

The Fleet Science Center is not just for stunning films of places and things like you’ve only imagined them but it’s also a Hands-On museum filled with interactive exhibits for kids all the way up to kids at heart. They have both visiting and permanent exhibitions on display, as well as live shows and demonstrations! I’ve been going there since I was a kid and on this trip several of the exhibits were referred to as “retro” which made me laugh a bit. As I move into this phase of my life I realize the things of my childhood are becoming vintage to the younger generations.  Check a couple of pictures from our evening below.

So if you’re looking for a fun date night, an activity for the family on a weekend or something to do with friends from out of town you’ve got to get down to Balboa Park and pay a visit to The Fleet Science Center.  I guarantee it will not disappoint.  The IMAX theater is like nothing you’ve ever experienced and most of the films themes are science, nature or animals.
